Cardiac Screening

Cardiac screening is aimed at identifying any underlying undiagnosed cardiac conditions and/or cardiac disease, which can be exacerbated when one undertakes exercise.

A cardiac screen may be required for clearance to participate in sport or else it can be performed as a routine screening test.

A cardiac physical examination, personal and family history is assessed and this is then competed with resting ECG is performed. If there is any indication of cardiac disease, an exercise stress test and/or cardiac echo may be performed for further assessment, followed by a review with a sports cardiologist.
